The short version: the calculators run entirely in your browser, your numbers never reach my server, and I don't have accounts to sell you out of. The longer version is below, because specifics matter more than reassurance.
This is the most important thing on this page. Every calculator on this site runs in JavaScript inside your own browser. When you type your salary, your credit card balance, or your rent into a calculator, that number is processed on your device and displayed back to you. It is never transmitted to me, never stored on a server, and never logged anywhere. When you close the tab, it's gone.
I could not tell you what you entered into a calculator even if someone demanded it, because I never had it.
Hosting logs. This site is hosted by Netlify, which like essentially every web host keeps standard server logs. These may include your IP address, browser type, the pages you visited, and timestamps. This is used for security and to keep the site running. Netlify's handling of this data is covered by their own privacy policy.
Analytics. If analytics are running, they tell me aggregate things like which calculators get used most and roughly where visitors come from. This is used to decide what to build next. It isn't tied to your identity.
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. This site uses them in a limited way, and third parties may use them too:
Google AdSense and third-party advertising. I'm working toward running display advertising on this site through Google AdSense. When that is active:
Amazon Associates. This site participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program. If you click an Amazon link here and make a purchase, Amazon may set cookies to attribute that purchase, and I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Amazon's privacy practices are governed by their own policy.
Cookie controls. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking them will not break any calculator on this site, because the calculators don't need them.
If you're in the EU or UK (GDPR). You have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to processing or request portability. Since I don't hold accounts or a mailing list, in practice there is usually very little for me to hold — but if you want to exercise these rights, email me.
If you're in California (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. I do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
This site isn't directed at children under 13 and I don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact me and I'll delete it.
This site links to other places, including Amazon, Kelley Blue Book, and Edmunds. Once you follow a link off this site, you're subject to that site's privacy policy, not this one. I'd encourage reading them.
This site is served over HTTPS. That said, no method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure, and I can't guarantee absolute security. The strongest protection here is structural rather than technical: the less data that exists, the less there is to breach, which is a large part of why this site collects so little.
If this policy changes meaningfully, I'll update the date at the top of the page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
